Other Vein Problems

Spider Veins

The smallest blood vessels just below the skin's surface don't have valves. But these vessels can become enlarged, most often on the thighs and ankles. The enlarged blood vessels (called spider veins) look like tiny threads or webs. Spider veins are not harmful to your health. But they can affect your self-image.

Varicose Veins

Blood pressing against weak veins can cause them to bulge or twist like a rope. These dark blue varicose veins are often found on the inner thighs, calves, and feet. For most people, varicose veins are not a major health problem. But sometimes they can lead to infections or skin ulcers.
