How long does it take for testing?
vvvvvv On average the testing will take approximately 45-90 minutes depending on the
vvvvvv type of test being performed.
Does the test hurt?
vvvvvv All tests are noninvasive (no needles) and normally are painless. Occasionally if a
vvvvvv patient is sore in the area being scanned, there may be some mild discomfort during
vvvvvv the test.
Will I see a physician?
vvvvvv No, the test will be performed by a registered technologist. The testing information
vvvvvv will then be forwarded to a board certified vascular surgeon to review and interpret
vvvvvv the test.
Will I get my results before leaving the office?
vvvvvv The policy of our office is not to give test results to the patients. The only time
vvvvvv results will be given is if instructed by the referring physician. If any critical results,
vvvvvv the referring physician will be contacted before patient leaves the office.
When will I get my test results and by whom?
vvvvvv Your test results will be forwarded to your referring physician within 48 hours
vvvvvv (working days). Your referring physician will contact you with the results.
If my neck arteries (carotid) are okay, does that mean all my
vvvv arteries are okay?
vvvvvv This does not mean that all your arteries in your body are okay. The testing being vvvvvv performed is only of your neck arteries but some studies indicate that carotid artery
vvvvvv disease suggests a higher probability of artery disease in other areas of the body.
Why are my legs swelling if I do not have a blood clot?
vvvvvv There are several medical conditions that can cause swelling in the legs.
vvvvvv Please see your physician.
Why are you examining the leg that does not hurt?
vvvvvv The leg that does not hurt is examined as a comparison to the painful leg. Also,
vvvvvv this is performed to check for any abnormalities.
If my circulation is okay, why do my legs hurt?
vvvvvv There can be other medical conditions causing the pain. Please see your physician
vvvvvv for a medical examination.
Other than diet and exercise, can I do anything else to reduce
vvvvvthe plaque in the arteries?
vvvvvv There are many ways to improve your vascular health. The Vascular Diagnostic
Center has available some free information. Your physician can give you a lot of
help specific to your own vascular risk factors. |
